Swoonworthy's World Series Watch 2010

Baseball, baseball, baseball — the sport has simply got to step up the pimping of its athletes’ fine bodies. There’s a reason football (American) and soccer (football everywhere else on Earth) are both insanely popular: The guys take off their clothes, on the field and off. Basically, the relative lack of skin in the sport of baseball (Jim Palmer’s vintage underwear ads excepted) is shameful and should be attended to immediately. Also needing attending: extremely suspect facial hair. Yes, we now completely understand why the Boss didn’t allow beards or mustaches on Yankees players, and the answer is the comically bizarre beard of the San Francisco Giants’ Brian Wilson (an otherwise decent-looking guy).

Still, there are obviously some very handsome men who pass the time playing America’s pastime. So here are the players to watch — literally — in the 2010 Major League Baseball World Series, which kicks off Wednesday at 7:57pm ET, with the American League’s Texas Rangers visiting the National League’s San Francisco Giants.

First up: The Texas Rangers!
