6 Cesc-y Videos of the Men Who Reign in Spain
9 Jul
We love the sport of soccer/football/fútbol/calcio/whatever you want to call it as much as anyone, but with the Netherlands vs. Spain in the World Cup final on Sunday this whole “Beautiful Game” business is officially getting out of hand. The Oranje and La Furia Roja are two of the most talented squads in the tournament — and we mean “talented” in the way men talk in nudge-nudge-wink-wink tones about women’s figures, not, you know, actual skill. Which is considerable. But whatever. For us neutral parties, it’s a difficult proposition choosing between them, but a job we’ve taken seriously. You need as much information as you can get. Yesterday we saw the men of the Netherlands in motion; today we offer you off-the-pitch clips of the famously guapo Spanish national team:
Gracias, Nike, for this wonderful commercial in which Spanish heroes Cesc Fàbregas, Fernando Torres, Carles Puyol, Sergio Ramos and Andrés Iniesta write all over their bare chests in freaky stop-motion photography that freaks us out a lot less than it turns us on. (Yes, even Puyol.)
Goalkeeper Iker Casillas is not only Swoonworthy’s No. 1 — oh, yeah, and Spain’s — he’s a good actor and funny. I’d rant about it not being fair to be so charming as well as handsome but I lose my train of thought every time I hit the play … huh?
See striker Fernando Torres eating his Wheaties — er, Frosties — juggling a soccer ball, signing autographs, snuggling in a big blanket … damn, lost my train of thought again.
David Villa‘s motion is captured in a motion-cap session for the videogame FIFA ’07. Golden Boot, Golden Hula Hoop, it’s all good.
There are many puns one can write about Cesc Fàbregas on fire from the Fàbregas Show, but we’ll resist and just say this: HOT.
Sorry about the whole full-bodied protective suit and mask thing in that last video. Here’s a bit more Cesc:
